Smoothies are such a great way to sneak a bunch of healthy ingredients into your family’s bodies. This Peach Smoothie recipe can be made with fresh peaches, canned peaches or frozen peaches, which means it’s an easy year-round option that you can whip up in minutes.

Are Peach Smoothies healthy?

If you’re wondering which peach smoothies are good for weight loss, you’ll have to look at the ingredients. You can fill your glass with nourishing fruits, vegetables, vitamins and minerals, or you can purchase a store-bought smoothie that’s loaded with sugar, fat and calories.

This healthy peach smoothie recipe has less than 170 calories per serving, more than 7 grams of protein, and less than 25 grams of sugar. It’s perfect for almost any diet or nutritional goals because it can be adapted to suit your needs. Add nut butter for healthy fats, use vegan ingredients for a plant-based option, or throw in some spinach for an undetectable veggie boost. The fiber and protein in this peach smoothie can help you stay satisfied and may even help you lose weight!

How to make a Peach Smoothie with Yogurt:

This truly could not be easier! You only need a handful of simple ingredients and about 5 minutes. Just don’t forget to freeze your fruit the night before — it’s the key to an icy cold, super-thick shake!

Ingredients:

  • Banana
  • Peaches (fresh, frozen or canned)
  • Greek yogurt
  • Milk or Orange Juice
  • Salt {maybe a surprise ingredient, but it just balances out the sweetness of the fruit — kind of like adding salt to cakes or cookies}
  • Ice cubes {keep the smoothie thick and frosty without adding extra calories}

Step 1: Freeze the Fruit!

One key to the thick, creamy texture of this smoothie is definitely the FROZEN banana and peaches! Don’t skip that step! It’s a great way to use up overripe bananas, too.

When you have dark bananas on your counter, just peel them, slice them, and wrap them individually. Stick the sliced bananas into the freezer and pull them out as you need them. Similarly, you can freeze fresh or canned sliced peaches in 1/2-cup portions, or you can purchase a bag of frozen sliced peaches at the store. I’m using frozen peaches here, which are a staple in our kitchen because it’s the easiest way to have peaches available all year round!

Step 2: Place all of the Ingredients in a Blender

Add the banana, peaches, yogurt, milk (or orange juice), salt and ice cubes to the blender.

What to serve with a Peach Smoothie:

Pair this smoothie with other satisfying breakfast options such as:

You can also make it a peach smoothie bowl by pouring the thick, creamy smoothie in a large bowl and topping the bowl with slices of fresh banana, fresh berries, additional sliced peaches, granola, nuts and seeds. Eat it with a spoon, rather than sipping it through a straw! If you have a very high powered blender (such as a Vitamix or Blendtec), you can reduce the milk to 1/4 cup and have an ultra-thick smoothie bowl that’s perfect for a spoon.

Health Benefits:

This recipe yields enough for two substantial servings. Each serving of peach smoothie includes 168 calories, 2 grams of fat, 33 grams of carbohydrates and 7.9 grams of protein. You get the vitamins and minerals from the two different kinds of fruit, the fiber from the fruit, and the protein and calcium from the yogurt and milk.

Cook’s Tips and Recipe Variations:

  • Using frozen fruit is the key to a thick, creamy smoothie. I like to slice overripe bananas, wrap them individually, and then stash them in the freezer to grab for smoothies whenever we need them.
  • You can start with fresh peaches (and slice them and freeze them in 1/2-cup portions), you can freeze canned peaches (just drain them first), or you can purchase a bag of unsweetened frozen peaches in the freezer section at the grocery store.
  • Use orange juice instead of milk for a bright, fresh burst of citrus flavor.
  • We use vanilla flavored or peach flavored Greek-style yogurt, but you can substitute with plain Greek yogurt to reduce the amount of sugar in the smoothie. If you’re using plain yogurt, I suggest adding a dash of vanilla extract for flavor, as well as a bit of honey or other sweetener of choice (if desired).
  • I use 2% milk in the smoothies because that’s what my boys prefer; however, you can substitute with any variety of milk or non-dairy milk alternative (such as almond milk).
  • Make a Green Peach Smoothie by adding a handful of baby spinach leaves to the blender. It won’t change the taste of the smoothie, but it will add some great nutrients!
  • For a dessert treat, turn this recipe into a Peach Milkshake. Instead of the yogurt, use vanilla or peach ice cream!
