Good morning and happy Sunday, friends! It’s time for our weekly catch-up, so grab that cup of coffee and get comfy. I’ve got plenty to share…

On Monday morning Spencer and I accompanied Casey and the rest of the preschoolers to the local fire station. Such a perfect field trip for my two little guys!

They learned about fire safety, met the Fire Chief (and his equipment), and explored the engines!

Tuesday afternoon Subway lunch date with my buddies!

A Wednesday afternoon trip into Charlottesville included a quick stop in Kroger for a few groceries (always an adventure with these two in tow),

and an after-lunch treat at Sweet Frog (we were in a hurry, so they ate in the car). Am I crazy to let a 1-year-old eat frozen yogurt on his own in a car seat? Don’t answer that.

Needless to say, the interior of my van isn’t exactly clean.

When I was rushing around to grab a quick breakfast and get us out of the house on Thursday morning I snapped a quick photo of my breakfast. It’s a typical one for me, so I figured I’d share. I had a Honey Crisp apple with cinnamon on it, and then I mixed together the rest of the Greek yogurt in the container with some pumpkin from the fridge, some cinnamon, and some maple syrup. Topped it with a serving of Kashi Crisp Cinnamon Crumble (which is basically like all of the best granola clusters in a box), and I was good to go!

After dropping Gibbs at school, we made a stop at Yoder’s for lunch meat, cheese, pumpkin bread, and a few other (non) essentials,

before heading in to Charlottesville for a weekly Costco run. The highlight of that trip (for me) was the thirty minute drive into town, since I was able to talk to my best friend Erica on the phone uninterrupted. It was her birthday, so we had fun catching up!

Casey picked out a box of 100 gel pens at Costco before we headed home for lunch.

The weather was gorgeous this past week, so this is the way that my boys spent most of their time…

IMG_6850

Friday morning was another beautiful day, so after we dropped the older boys off at their respective schools, Spence and I met my friend Lorae for a morning walk.

I dropped Casey’s friend Aidan off at his farm,

and we took an afternoon walk in the woods before picking Gibbs up from school.

We had carry-out pizza for dinner and then we put three VERY exhausted little boys to bed early.

Saturday morning we were back at it and spent the entire morning on the soccer fields for both of the older boys’ games. I was coaching (as a substitute for the week), so I asked Keith to take a few photos for me. And well, here I am with no actual photos from the games. Oh well — you’ve seen them before!

My parents came to watch the boys play, so we all grabbed a quick lunch at Subway before my folks headed home.

After lunch we did some grocery shopping,

IMG_6888

where I picked up this new-to-me gum as I was waiting in line.

IMG_6891

It’s good for a change (but it won’t replace my go-to mint gum)!

But you know what’s REALLY GOOD?! These:

My mom knows me so well. She brought these little gems when they came to visit, and I’m here to report that they are EVERYTHING I hoped they would be. 🙂

After our grocery store run, we all got hair cuts (doesn’t he look thrilled?)!

After leaving the house at 8:30 a.m., we finally returned home around 4:00 p.m. It was a long and busy day, but a good one.

Keith grilled some salmon for dinner, I roasted some seasoned potatoes (recipe HERE), and served it all with steamed cauliflower and broccoli. Delicious, fast, and easy supper!

Later, after we put the boys to bed, I texted this photo to my friend Mollie who shares my love for the LaCroix waters. It was a rockin’ Saturday night!

This morning we had our annual family photo shoot, so we were up early to get everyone dressed and ready to smile. It’s not our favorite activity (getting three little boys to cooperate for pictures isn’t exactly a cake walk), but it’s done and it’s definitely worth the effort. I’ll share the results when they’re available!

After lunch and Spencer’s nap, we headed a couple of miles down the road to Liberty Mills Farm for the corn maze, hay rides, and other fall fun. No surprise, the boys LOVED it.

Now Keith is pulling some pork off of the smoker and we’re getting ready for supper. Have a great week, everyone!

  1. Looks like a very busy week! It was nice to see your Father as I have not before. Spencer did not look happy about the hair cut but he did get to see lots of heavy equipment.

      1. Thank you for your reply. I want you to know that my family is 2 people. I look forward to you sharing yours with me. When I see your weekly post by eyes light up.
