Hi, there! Ready for another weekend recap? In an effort to keep these posts a bit shorter, I’m just hitting the highlights…

Backtracking a little, we had another busy but good week on summer vacation! We squeezed in a trip to the car wash (always good entertainment for little boys!),

and enjoyed a pizza dinner by the pool with our friends on Wednesday evening. Fun way to break up the work week!

Kristin and her three little ones came for lunch and an afternoon of play on Thursday,

and it was so great to watch our youngest boys have fun with each other as well!

Play

We managed to hit up Yoder’s for a visit to the Friday donut truck,

and enjoyed the playground and farm animals with our buddy, Henry.

Aunt Barbara stopped by and dropped off these wooden lap boards that my uncle made for the boys. We have an upcoming road trip and I’ve been looking (unsuccessfully) for inexpensive boards that Gibbs and Casey could use for eating, coloring, etc. on our drive. Uncle Gary to the rescue!!

Saturday morning included a trip to the Farmer’s Market (not a large haul, since we’re headed out of town soon).

IMG_4388

We picked up:

– strawberries

– blueberries

– pizza sauce

– broccoli

– cinnamon swirl bread

– zesty bread and butter pickles (OMG…so good!)

– eggs

– sandwich rolls

Then it was home for some weed control in the gardens. A family effort!!

We even squeezed in some relaxation time.

After Spencer’s nap we went on a classy family outing to buy liquor at the ABC store…

and other necessities at Walmart.

I was rolling my eyes when I saw the items that Keith had thrown into his cart, so he suggested that I take photo for the blog. Here ya go!

Grocery shopping with The Seasoned Dad:

That would be Berry Oreos, Star Wars cereal, margarita mix, Bubba burgers, beer, and ketchup. Nice, right?

IMG_4404-2

versus grocery shopping with The Seasoned Mom:

Bananas, grapes, veggies straws, Greek yogurt, and a bag of salad. I suppose that means that we balance each other out, right?

IMG_4405

Gibbs has been nagging me to make homemade pizza for dinner for a long time, so that’s exactly what we did. We used this pizza sauce that we bought from the kids’ babysitters at the farmer’s market:

and enjoyed our pizza with a movie for Family Movie Night. The kids LOVED it.

When Spence finished eating, he had no interest in the movie…so we spent some time sitting on the front porch swing before baths and bed. Baby selfie!

The rest of our rockin’ Saturday night involved the couch, an Us Weekly magazine, an episode of The Pioneer Woman, and an old Rambo movie.

On her latest show, The Pioneer Woman made THESE No-Bake Peanut Butter Bars. Of course, Keith was drooling over them and requested that I make a batch. So…

Sunday morning, while Keith was doing yard work, mowing the grass, and picking the most delicious peaches that I have ever tasted (!!!), I made THE BARS.

IMG_4425Lemme just tell you: if you love peanut butter and chocolate together, these babies are for you. They are 100% decadent, but they’re very easy, they use pantry ingredients that I had on hand, and they were devoured quickly!

After Spencer’s nap we cooled off with some Super Soakers,

and some ice cream at The Wolftown Country Store.

  1. Lovely pictures of the family as always. I have saved the recipe as I am much like your husband with peanut butter & chocolate. I also wanted to say that hubby has a new hat, lol.

    1. Hah! Thanks, Jeanette! Hubby doesn’t love his hat, but he NEEDS it to keep the sun off of his face in this heat. 🙂 He’s on the hunt for a good cowboy hat! And yes, you’ll love that recipe! 🙂

      1. I usually see him without a hat. So the baseball hat was a surprise let alone the going on Safari hat? I have a cowboy hat & live very far north in North America. You should purchase one for Father’s Day??? Take him with you as it a personal choice plus you need to know what is the size of his big head, lol? You know the fruit dip you made I was able to find the Vanilla pudding & local strawberries just came on Saturday.

        1. You’re right — it would be a great Father’s Day gift…but he definitely needs to pick it out himself!
