Hey there! It’s Sunday, which means that it’s time for a little catch-up. How was your week? Ours was good, but busy (as usual). Here are a few of the moments that I captured on my phone…starting with Monday morning’s flat tire. Welcome to the week, right?!
Technically, it wasn’t flat YET…just low. When my air pressure gauge light went on while I was taking the boys to school on Monday morning, I knew that I better stop to get it looked at. Sure enough, there was a leak. Fortunately, after a quick fix we were back in business!
Enjoying the beautiful Fall weather (and getting really dirty)…
A walk in the woods,
and a very quick after-school stop at the mall.
I grabbed some soap for our bathrooms at home,
Casey picked out some soaps for his teachers,
and we all enjoyed treats {Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino for me and cake pops for the boys}!
An afternoon walk with Spence,
which included some flower-gazing as well!
Keith and I love to notice really pretty sunsets (or sunrises) and point them out to each other. I snapped a pic when he called me out to see this one on Wednesday evening.
I also snapped a pic of my desk as I was walking by because it’s so darn typical: my calendar, some water, the television remote from another room (I think Spence brought it to me?), and a dirty diaper that I meant to throw away but got sidetracked before doing so. Professional, right?!
My mom came for a visit on Thursday, and apparently dressed in the same outfit as Gibbs.
Our newest neighbors came over to say hello (the cows live on the other side of our back fence),
and these guys showed off their Jedi skills.
Pumpkin spice coffee in my new pumpkin mug from Mom (she obviously knows me well)! ‘Tis the season!
I was also excited to see a letter arrive from Aunt Bee, along with some more of her old recipe cards. I have a few dinner ideas that I can’t wait to share!
After dropping the older two boys off at school on Friday morning, Spence and I headed into Charlottesville for a walking date with our besties, Kristin and Jonathan!
They are always so patient with me and smile for the camera…even when wearing workout clothes! And a happy belated birthday to Jonathan, who turned 1 last week!!
Gibbs’s kindergarten class went on a field trip to the apple orchard on Friday, so he brought home some freshly-picked fruit. He thought the apple cider that they tasted was really good and he announced at dinner that I “should make apple cider the Old-Fashioned Way,” because it “will BLOW YOUR MIND, Mom.” Dream on, kiddo!
And not surprisingly, the highlight of the day (according to Gibbs) was riding the school buses to the orchard. Typical.
Keith downloaded an old-school Atari game app on the iPad for Gibbs this week, and guess who is SUPER into Centipede now?
On Saturday morning the boys had some pumpkin gingerbread when I was testing a recipe, along with yogurt and fruit for breakfast.
Then we made some Chocolate Chip Cookies, since Casey has to take some “C” letter treats to his classmates next week. We enjoyed the rest of the batch here at home.
Then we were off to the soccer fields for the first weekend of fall games. The boys played on adjacent fields at the same time…convenient!
We spent the afternoon in Culpeper running errands at fine establishments like the ABC store, the grocery store, and Target (where Keith and Casey walked out with the biggest NERF guns that they could find). Boys never grow up!
The boys buy toy guns, while I buy PUMPKIN EVERYTHING. Including this new-to-me cereal (which is pretty good, but not overly “pumpkin-ny” in taste).
This morning started bright and early. It was sunny and cool, so the boys were outside in their P.J.’s by 7:20 a.m.
Spence and I were treated to an awesome brunch with Margeaux, Ian, and Brian. The boys played,
and then we all enjoyed quiche, pancakes, bacon, and fruit. Spence and I both cleaned our plates. So delicious! Spence was especially fond of Margeaux’s bell pepper, ham, and cheese quiche…so she sent us home with the leftovers. Such a treat!
While we were visiting our friends, Keith took the older two boys on a lunch date of their own at The Barbecue Exchange (always a hit), followed up by ice cream at Purple Cow (again, a huge hit)!
I’m off to make some chili for supper and enjoy the rest of the afternoon. Have a great week, friends!
