If there’s one meal that I can always rely on to make everyone in my house happy, it would be a sandwich. My boys LOVE sandwiches — and I love that they’re quick and easy to prepare, they travel well, and I can load them up with plenty of delicious ingredients to suit everyone’s tastes.

Packets of cheese in a supermarket for making picnic sandwiches

While I pack plenty of lunch boxes during the school year, I seem to prepare just as many picnics during the summer months because we are always on the go! We’re hiking through the woods, visiting a playground, hanging out by the pool, or hosting friends for a casual backyard dinner — and these meals always involve sandwiches.

Cheese Sandwiches

Since no sandwich is complete without some cheese, I’m sure to keep my refrigerator stocked with plenty of Sargento® Sliced Cheese in a variety of flavors. Sargento® Sliced Cheese is made from real, natural cheese, and since it comes pre-sliced, it’s easy to add to sandwiches without any extra hassle. You know I love a shortcut!

We recently picked up a selection of our favorite Sargento® Sliced Cheese at Kroger (and it was even on sale!),

so that I could put together the perfect selection of Picnic Sandwiches for our backyard supper (there’s no better way to feed a family of boys during the summer than OUTSIDE on a picnic table)!

I went with cold sandwiches for this particular occasion, because it’s HOT here in the summer and I love when I don’t have to turn on my oven or stove! Using a few of our favorites, this is my ultimate list of 3-Ingredient Sandwich Combinations to get you through the season — complete with vegetarian options, lighter options, and more indulgent choices. Just grab your favorite bread and start building!

  2. What a great idea! Sign me up for the bacon guacamole swiss! Actually I’ll take them all 🙂

  3. Great combo of ingredients, Blair, and I love that your cheese is natural. I almost fainted at the prices because food in Canada is about 30% higher than the US!
I love sandwiches as well and I’m totally sold on every one of your creations. I’ll be stealing your ideas for the company coming this weekend. It’s Canada Day tomorrow! Thanks 🙂

    1. Thanks so much, Robyn! I can’t BELIEVE that Canadian prices are that much higher! Whoa! With three boys (and their endless appetites) I’d be broke! 🙂

Have a wonderful Canada Day celebration tomorrow! xoxo

  4. We have been doing picnics A LOT lately with the gorgeous SoCal weather and still unpacking from our move. I’m a sucker with ANY type of sandwich with avocado on it!!!

    1. You’re so lucky to be enjoying that beautiful weather, and I know you’ll love your new home once you’re all settled! Thanks so much for stopping by, Chrissa!
