I’m so excited for today’s guest post, which is the first in a series of health-related topics. After all, it’s the height of New Year’s Resolution “season,” so what better time to focus on these efforts?

Kendra and Sofia

As you know, I gave birth to my third child in mid-November. Just like any mom, I have struggled with finding the time (and energy) to get back to a regular exercise and eating routine. I grew up in athletics and I know just how important regular activity is for both my mental and physical health. That said, it can be incredibly overwhelming to try to squeeze yet another “thing” into an already jam-packed day.

Since I know that I’m not alone in this struggle, I decided that it would be fun to put together a series of posts that would give moms like me some simple advice and support so that we can focus on taking care of ourselves.

And when I wanted some expert advice on this particular topic, I knew just who to turn to! Once again, my friends pull through! Kendra and I went to the same elementary, middle, and high schools, and we both played sports throughout our childhoods. Kendra is a mom to adorable Sofia, and she was the owner of a Stroller Strides franchise in Northern Virginia before she moved to Florida last year. I knew that a fellow busy mom, with experience in teaching exercise classes to moms and babies, would have some great advice to share with all of us.

When I asked Kendra to contribute to the blog, she immediately responded with what I would consider the perfect solution: “The Living Room Workout.” These exercises can be done in the comfort of your own home while your little one naps – no special equipment necessary. And if your children are grown and out of the house, or if you’re a young, single gal that just doesn’t want to drive to the gym, this workout is for you, too!

Give it a shot and let me and Kendra know what you think! And if you like this post, stay tuned…because on Wednesday Kendra will share her advice for eating well and will give us a peek at her meal plan to lose that baby belly!

I have been the new mom, trying to figure out how to work out with a newborn…I joined Stroller Strides.

I have been the mom going back to work and stressing about when to add in my workouts (without having to put the baby I spent all day away from in the gym nursery)…I started to run and walk after before or after work.

I have also most recently had a chance to be the stay at home mommy (thinking I had more time to devote to working out-silly me!)…I joined a boot camp and worked out at 5:30am.

It’s hard to find the balance, but there is ALWAYS opportunity.

The below workout was passed along to me and I in return passed along to a few of my mommy friends, both stay at home and working…A few of them use it a few times a week! It is out Naptime secret 😉

  1. Just wanting to let you ladies know how great of a post this is. I just came across this and while I no longer have a newborn, my baby “big girl” is 2, I am busier than ever. I can tell a huge difference when I don’t do some form of activity, and have really been struggling with finding time vs. not spending uncveasary time away from my family. This wonderful 15 minute power up has been a God send. On mornings before work that I NEED to catch just 10 more minutes of sleep, this workout lets me do that. It is quick and effecient, as I noted significant sweat and a bit of soreness the next morning!! Great jobs ladies and keep up the great insight and advise.
