My middle child, Casey, turned 3 last weekend and we celebrated with a Dinosaur Birthday Party!

It was the perfect spring day to stay outdoors, so that’s exactly what we did.

Big brother had the same dino t-shirt, and even baby Spence wore his party-themed apparel (can you spot the T-Rex on his little tummy?)!

Everyone quickly ate lunch before heading off to play in the sun. On the menu?

veggies, chips, and dip,

plus Nilla Wafers and pretzel crisps for dunking in the Funfetti Cake Batter Dip.

But the best part of all was the dessert (of course)! I enlisted the help of my friend Katie’s mom, Kathryn, to make some extra-special dinosaur cookies. You see, I was raised on Ms. Kathryn’s unbelievably delicious cookies (oatmeal cookies and ginger cookies are her specialties!)…and she continues to spoil my boys now by regularly sending us batches of her latest and greatest treats. You can’t believe how good these cookies are. Just take it from the birthday boy Casey, who consumed 6 dinosaur cookies in 1 sitting during his party!

We also served mini cupcakes (with dinosaur picks on top) and dinosaur-shaped gummy candy.

And once they were completely pumped full of sugar, the kids had a great time just playing in the yard, digging for dinosaur bones in our dinosaur excavation bins (which I filled with rice and sand), and coloring 3-D dinosaurs at the picnic table. It was really the perfect excuse to spend an afternoon enjoying the company of some of our favorite people! I will let the photos do the rest of the talking…

As I mentioned, Casey spent a lot of time eating his favorite cookies…

And by the end, EVERYONE was exhausted, happy, and ready for a nap!

Happy birthday to my sweet, mischievous, charming, and wild 3-year-old! And many thanks to our friends (near and far) who helped to make his day so special!
