Heat resistance: Certain Bundt cake pans boast different heat tolerances, so be sure your recipe in question can support that. Most are oven safe between 400 and 450 degrees F, but double check what’s required for the recipe, (although most will require baking the Bundt at 350 degrees F).

Capacity: Decide what size crowd you’re feeding. A Bundt cake pan with a typical 10- to 12-cup capacity will serve up to 25 people, while a smaller Bundt pan or set of mini pans might be a wiser choice if you’re making single-serve portions or trying out a new recipe for the first time. 

Material: This will impact both your baking time and how easy it is to remove the cake. Lighter colored metals—like gold steel pans—work best for dispersing heat equally, so opt for those over clear materials like glass, which won’t leave you with a nice golden crust. If deep fluting in a Bundt cake pan is important to you from a visual aspect, make sure the one you pick has deep grooves to make it easier to get out. Also, look for a nonstick coating to make it easier to remove your cake from the pan.

Handles: Bundt cake pans are intricately shaped, which can make it challenging to grab out of the oven with oven mitts. To make grabbing it easier for this transfer and to flip it over, find a pan with handles, which not every one has.

What’s the Best Way to Get Cake Out of a Bundt Pan?

After spending all this time mixing your ingredients and waiting for them to bake and brown in the oven, getting cake out of your Bundt pan might seem like a daunting task. Steal Blair’s fail-proof tip, and you should be well on your way to a gorgeous Bundt cake: “I always use Pam non-stick baking spray for my Bundt cakes, and I’ve never had anything stick! It works like a charm, and it’s much quicker and easier than greasing and flouring the pan (which is also a fine trick!).”

Can You Make Angel Food Cake in a Bundt Pan? 

Angel food cake is an incredibly light and fluffy cake that can easily puncture and lose its shape. Because you typically need to slide a knife between the Bundt cake pan and the cake itself in order to release it, doing so might compromise the structural integrity of the cake, leading to a less visually appetizing outcome.

However, if a Bundt cake pan is all you have on hand, make sure it is non-stick with as shallow grooves as possible. Before removing it from the pan, allow it to cool upside down for 10 to 15 minutes, and your angel food cake will come out tasting exactly the way it should. To compensate for any discrepancies in the way your angel food cake looks, you can always dress it up in icing, sauce, fruits or a dust of powdered sugar.

Can You Bake a Regular Cake in a Bundt Pan? 

If you’re looking to treat your favorite cake recipe to a specialty Bundt shape, you’re in luck as the pans are pretty much interchangeable. Simply grease the inside of the pan to ensure it slides out easily, using a non-stick baking spray fat you used in your recipe. Then, dust the inside of the pan with the likes of flour or cocoa powder, taking care to remove any excess. Because cakes rise at different heights, err on the side of caution and fill the Bundt cake pan no more than 2/3 to 3/4 up the wall (feel free to use any leftover batter for a separate mini cake or cupcakes). 

Because baking times vary in different baking pans, keep an eye on your cake towards the 45-minute mark by popping in a toothpick and checking if it’s clean (a thermometer reading of 200 degrees will also do the trick).   1. I can’t believe you bothered to rate any aluminum bundt pan. We all should know by now that cooking with any kind of aluminum pan is a health hazard, also non-stick coated pans. You also should not be cooking in a micro-wave, period. It only takes 10 seconds on high to alter the molecular structure of what you are cooking. I am disappointed to find this kind of a review on the Pioneer Woman.
    I use Simax glass bundt pan, made in Europe. Cadmium and lead free and comes with a 10 year warranty. Cooks evenly, and as long as you grease it, I’ve never had a problem getting the cake out. Totally healthy cooking.
