These sweet trees make great decorations for your holiday table, and even serve as tasty treats for little elves.

No surprise, my little elves were more interested in eating their trees than they were in admiring their treesโ€™ beauty.

We started with just a few easy-to-find supplies:

Sugar cones (turned upside down, these are your โ€œtreesโ€)

Sugar Cones

Wilton candy melts (I found these green melts on sale at Michaels, but you could very easily just use white microwaveable melting chocolate from the grocery store and color it green with some food dye)

Candy Melts

Christmas decorating sprinkles, M&Mโ€™s, and other various candy that we had in the house. Just about anything would work. Miniature marshmallows would be cute, and so would cinnamon Red Hots.

Sprinkles for Tree

First, I melted the green candy melts in the microwave, according to the package instructions. I then used a knife to spread the melted green โ€œcandyโ€ on the sugar cones. Once they were completely coated, I just let the boys go at it with the sprinkles and the other decorations:

These worked great! I just set them on a wire drying rack and popped them in the refrigerator to set. In no time, the candy shell was firm and the decorations were in place.

I would not say that this was a โ€œneatโ€ project, however. By the time we were done, I definitely had sprinkles all over the floor of my kitchen and we definitely went to story time at the library with green frosting smeared on our shirts. Festive!
