About The Seasoned Mom

Quick and Easy Family-Friendly Recipes from a Southern Farmhouse Kitchen

Welcome to The Seasoned Mom! Here you will find delicious, easy recipes for the busy home cook, often with a Southern twist. Inspired by Virginiaโ€™s rich traditions, the changing seasons in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and our simple farmhouse life, these meals have been tried, tested, and loved for generations.

I believe in the power of a simple homemade supper to bring the family together at the table. Thatโ€™s why the recipes I share are typically budget-friendly, quick to pull together, and appealing to even the pickiest little eaters.

After all, food doesnโ€™t need to be gourmet, time-consuming, or impressive to nourish our souls. The fond memories come from the time together, the conversations, the nostalgia, and the laughs!

If you’re looking for easy, quick-wins to get “real life” dinners on the table, don’t miss my weekly posts called Our Week in Meals. Each Sunday, I share a roundup of the meals that I cooked for my family over the past few days, along with tips for prepping ahead or taking shortcuts when necessary.

Our History

In 2013, after bringing home my third baby boy in less than four years, my world felt as though it had been turned upside down. I was a Princeton-educated attorney, but I was overwhelmed by the responsibilities in front of me and unsure of how to manage my new home life.

With piles of laundry to fold, fussy babies to comfort, and a job to perform, just getting dinner on the table each night seemed like an insurmountable task. The stress of trying to live up to my own high expectations as both a parent and a professional left me exhausted and overwhelmed.

I needed to simplify my life and bring order to our chaos — starting with mealtimes. I returned to the nourishing, family-friendly dinners that I was raised on, creating updated versions of classic farmhouse favorites. From dump-and-bake dinners to Crock Pot soups and cozy casseroles, these quick-prep meal solutions accommodated our busy lifestyle, served as an anchor in our day, and brought our family together around the table.

Today, over a million people visit The Seasoned Mom every month and make my recipes every day! I am tremendously grateful to call this blog my full-time job. I left my legal career behind and now spend my days testing new recipes, photographing our favorite meals, and sharing them here for all of you to enjoy. What could be better?!

Iโ€™m now raising teenagers who are far less picky and who plow through groceries at an alarming rate. I might not be changing diapers or negotiating naptimes anymore, but I continue to rely on the simple meals, flavorful ingredients, and family dinners that have served us well for so many years. I hope that they will bring a sense of relief and joy to your home as well! From one busy mama to another, Iโ€™ve taken what Iโ€™ve learned the hard way and turned it into comfort food you can count on — even on your craziest days.

All Are Welcome Here

I welcome everyone into my kitchen here at The Seasoned Mom! I aim to be a resource for every home cook and always want you to feel included and supported when youโ€™re visiting my site. If I could, I would pull up a chair at our farmhouse table and share a meal (or a cold glass of sweet tea and a slice of apple pie) with each one of you. Iโ€™m not perfect, but I hope to get it right most of the time. If you ever have concerns, donโ€™t hesitate to reach out via blair@theseasonedmom.com.
