These are some of the best baked beans that I’ve ever tasted…and the secret ingredient is apple butter! In Virginia, apple butter is a big thing in the fall. Since I had a few jars of it left in my pantry, I decided to incorporate the fall tradition into a summer cook-out recipe. The fruity spread just lends a nice, sweet, spiced flavor to the barbecue dish. Subtle and perfect!

The other great thing about these Apple Butter Baked Beans is that they couldn’t be easier to throw together. If you can open a jar and stir, you’re all set!
This dish is aย perfect companion for the hot dogs and hamburgers at your next picnic. The recipe feeds a crowd, so if you’re just serving them for Sunday supper, it’s easy to cut it in half and bake in an 8-inch or 9-inch square dish instead. Enjoy!

I love homemade baked beans! It always reminds me of my Mom who always fixed them in her famous brown bean casserole dish. What a great idea to add apple butter to the mix. I bet it tastes fantastic. Come fall this is a definite must try.
