Well, folks…fall is officially HERE! We’re past the worst of the Central Virginia summer heat, the kids are back in school, and a new season of sports has begun. It is definitely a timeย of change! From our family’s schedule, to the foods that we eat and the clothes that we wearย — it’s all new again — and it’s so exciting! But just like every other parent out there, I am busy, busy, busy and constantly on-the-go. That means that my fall style has to keep up with all of our adventures.

About the time that I was doing some Back-to-School shopping for the kids, I also snagged myself a few new items to spruce up my wardrobe and ease the transition to fall. Of course, shoes were at the top of my list! I picked up the Nikeย Women’s Flex 2016 RN Running Shoeย fromย Famous Footwearย because this style is the perfect combination of comfortable and trendy — no matter where my days take me.
I first laced them up to bringย the older boys to their first day of school a few weeks ago (wet hair + coffee in a travel mug is always part of my hectic morning routine too)!
The shoes are greatย for errands around town — like my many trips to the grocery store — but they’re equally appropriate for exercise. I’ve used them for the Boot Camp class at myย gym, as well as for walks with my girlfriends while Spencer is at preschool.
Speaking of changes this season — Casey started Kindergarten and my baby is now in school 2 mornings per week! How did that happen?! For the first time in almost 7 years I have a few hours each week when I’m kid-free. That’s a MAJOR life change and it’s one that I’m still getting used to! Fortunately, my morning walks with Mollie on those days while Spence is gone are a fun distraction from an otherwise very quiet house.
I love having shoes that I can put on in the morning and use for the rest of the day — no changes necessary!
In the past couple of weeks, my new shoes have also spent evenings on the soccer practice fields,
and on family weekend adventures.
Last Sundayย I needed to make a trip into town to do some shopping, so Keith and the boys tagged along.
Before the store opened at 10, we decided to get a little bit ofย exercise by exploringย the campus at the University of Virginia. We were tourists in our own backyard, and it was FUN!
We picked up coffee and donuts, the kids hunted for Pokemon, and we enjoyed the cooler (less humid) air. My shoes were the perfect vehicle for our wanderings!
While in town, I also grabbed pumpkins and flowers to give our front porch a little bit of an updated fall look.
Casey was proud that he helped with our “decorating.”
Changesย are happening all around, and thanks to some timely updates to myย wardrobe and my home, I’m ready to take on the season with confidence!

I love my nikes. Especially when it’s back to school and schedules! I really enjoyed this article! you are rockin it!
Thanks, Mary! I’m so glad that you enjoyed the post, and thank you for the kind words! ๐
I haven’t owned a pair of Nikes since I was in high school which was a REALLY long time ago. I’ve been wanting to snack up a pair just for errands and stuff. Yours are so cute!
Oh, they’re the best, Megan! I just took the shoes to Asheville for a weekend of sightseeing too. They’re cute and comfy — the best combination!
I definitely find I tend to stick to sneakers and boots in the Autumn/Winter but in summer I’m all about cute flats! The only exception to that is if I’m at the beach – then it’s flip flops because I don’t want to be picking sand out of my shoes for years to come, haha!
Totally agree, Kristy! Flip flops are the only way to go for the beach! ๐
I love how these Nikes work for both exercise and running around the town! And I have to admit, I’m a bit jealous of your kid-free hours each week!
Yes, the kid-free hours are nice…but I’m always SHOCKED by how quickly those few hours fly by! ๐ Thanks for stopping by, Kristine!
