Itโ€™s Pirate Week in our house, so we started off the fun by searching for hidden treasure!

Treasure Map

Last night, after the boys went to bed, I drew a quick map of our yard, complete with a route to find the gold.

I picked up this great little treasure chest at Michaelโ€™s for a few dollars. Of course, a shoebox or any other small container would have worked just fine, too.

In our case, the โ€œtreasureโ€ was some chocolate gold coins.

Gibbs took this “huntโ€ very seriously, and started by studying his map.

Then he was off and runningโ€ฆ

On his way to Daddyโ€™s Fruit Trees, he had to stop and search in some sticks to be sure that he wasnโ€™t passing by the goods.

Next stop, sandbox:

Nope, no treasure there. Better check in the Tractor Shed (please note that the doors to the shed are NOT open. Mommy is way too scared to actually go inside there because of the possibility that I might encounter something slithery, furry, or otherwise really creepy).

And donโ€™t forget about First Mate Casey! He was participating as wellโ€ฆjust a little bit behind his brother. And he wasnโ€™t really sure what was going on, so he brought along his dump truck (you know, just in case).

Last stop on the way to the hidden treasure? The front steps of the General Store Building.

And you can be sure that Little Brother was right thereโ€ฆjust in time to enjoy some treasure!
