My little guy turned 2 yesterday, so we celebrated with all of Casey’s favorite things – including a tractor-themed birthday party!
The house was definitely decked out in John Deere green and yellow, from the cups
and the punch (Trisha Yearwood’s Green Punch recipe),
to the balloons
and the utensils (green and yellow bandanas wrapped around plastic forks and spoons).
The table was decorated with a green tablecloth and a yellow “runner,” which was really just a roll of wrapping paper. Easy and disposable!
I wrapped an empty box and topped it with a toy tractor for the centerpiece. Some fresh yellow flowers were added to the tables throughout our house.
For lunch we served Casey’s favorite Chik-Fil-A chicken nuggets, as well as chicken wraps for the adults. That was a very easy way to get a main course on the table!
We also had some potato chips,
some Cowboy Corn Dip with Fritos and crackers,
Casey’s favorite veggies with my homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dip,
and animal crackers from Farmer Casey’s barnyard!
For dessert, I knew that it wouldn’t be Casey’s party without some candy. The boy loves his sugar!
I dipped some ice cream cones in melted white chocolate and coated the rims with sprinkles. Then I filled the cones with jelly beans and M&M’s and propped them in some yellow buckets. The buckets were stuffed with green shredded paper from the dollar store, which worked perfectly to hold up the cones. These required minimal effort and they were definitely the biggest hit of the day among the 2-and-3-year-old crowd!
We also included some dipped Oreo cookies on the dessert table,
as well as some tractor cupcakes.
Casey loved celebrating his big day with some of his favorite people!
Gibbs, Charlie, and Ella
Love her!
Favorite babysitters, Rebekah and Catherine
Uncle Kevin
Elly
Serena and Carly
and he was showered with some amazing gifts, which all of the kids enjoyed!
After he blew out his candle,
Casey sent his friends home with some of his favorite toys: coloring books and crayons!
Unfortunately, the cool and rainy weather kept us all inside while the tractor piñata hung lonely on a tree.
No worries, though. Later in the afternoon, Keith and the boys had their own little party with the piñata, their bats, and some candy. The perfect ending to a very fun day!
