An easy chicken parmesan sandwich made with just 5 ingredients. Crispy breaded chicken topped with marinara, melty mozzarella, and Parmesan on toasted rolls.
4frozen breaded chicken patties(such as Just Bare, Tyson, or Perdue brand)
1cupmarinara sauce
1-2cupsshredded mozzarella cheese
¼cupgrated Parmesan cheese
4sandwich rolls or hoagie rolls, split and toasted
Instructions
Bake the chicken: Arrange frozen chicken patties on a baking sheet. Bake according to package directions (typically 18-22 minutes at 400°F) until golden brown and cooked through. Alternatively, cook in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes at 400°F.
Add sauce and cheese: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce over each chicken patty. Top each with about ¼ cup shredded mozzarella and 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan.
Broil: Switch oven to broil. Place chicken under the broiler for 1-3 minutes, watching closely, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Assemble: Place each cheesy chicken patty on a toasted roll. Serve immediately.
Notes
Toast your bread while the chicken bakes for better flavor and texture. Toasted rolls hold up to the sauce without getting soggy.
Don't over-sauce. 2 tablespoons per patty is plenty. Too much marinara makes the sandwich soggy.
Cheese options: Shredded mozzarella is quickest, but sliced fresh mozzarella or provolone work great too.
Oven vs. air fryer: Both work well. Air fryer gives slightly crispier results and cooks faster.
Storage: Store leftover chicken (without bread) in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in a 375°F oven for 8-10 minutes until crispy, then assemble on fresh toasted bread.
Scaling: This recipe easily scales up or down. Make as many or as few sandwiches as you need.
