Hi! We spent a damp morning visiting our favorite neighborhood hang-out: Yoderโ€™s Country Market. Itโ€™s great entertainment because the kids love to visit with the animals, and they really love to go inside the store to โ€œshopโ€ for snacks. Today we left with gingerbread cookies, Christmas chocolates, and Doritos. Health food.

But before we ventured inside, we just had to give the goats some attention.

There were some babies that I wanted to stick in my pocket and bring home with me.

And Casey decided to give one a kiss (or maybe a head-butt):

After our fresh air and refreshments, I decided that we should probably spend a few minutes discussing the true meaning of Christmas. After all, itโ€™s not just about Red Monster Pick-up Trucks and The Polar Express.

So I pulled out our nativity scene, which is the same nativity scene that I grew up with. As a child, I loved to set this up. Of course, Baby Jesus was always my favorite part.

What was Gibbsโ€™s favorite part? Not Baby Jesus.

He quickly found another more practical use for these figurines:

Somehow Santa even managed to sneak into this nativity scene.

Oh well. I will work on this lesson again next year — hopefully with more luck!
