Optional add-ins: ¼ of a small onion, minced; 2 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro; ½ of a small jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced; ½ teaspoon cumin; 1 small tomato, seeded and diced; grilled or roasted fresh corn; salsa
Instructions
Scoop the flesh out of each pitted avocado. Place the avocado in a medium bowl.
Use a fork or a potato masher to mash the avocado until it's relatively smooth. You can leave some larger chunks if you like; this is just a matter of personal preference.
Stir in the lime juice, kosher salt, garlic powder, and ground black pepper.
Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. This is also a great time to add any other mix-in's that you'd like, such as diced tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, or fresh salsa.
Notes
Thanks to the acidic lime juice in the guacamole (which prevents excessive browning), you can prepare the dip a few hours in advance of when you plan to serve it. Keep it covered tightly in the fridge with plastic wrap touching its surface.
