My kids LOVE bubbles, and they really are the perfect way to spend some time outside when the weather is sunny and warm. But you know what I don’t love about bubbles? The blowing part. I’m always winded after about 5 minutes of blowing on those slimy little wands, just so that the boys can run through a bubble or two. But today, I have solved the problem! These Fly Swatter Bubbles really are the perfect Outdoor Summer Activity!
The bubbles are great for a number of reasons:
(1) They’re CHEAP;
(2) They’re easy to put together — no preparation required and very basic supplies;
(3) The kids can entertain themselves (a moment of free hands for you!); and
(4) They’re good, clean, FUN.
Here’s the low-down:
Grab a few simple supplies:
– A fly swatter or two (we used these)
– A large bowl
– Liquid laundry detergent
That’s it! I whisked together about 2 cups of water with about 1 cup of laundry detergent. Initially I used less water, and the mixture was too thick to make bubbles. So, if your mixture seems a bit too thick as well, just splash in some more water. You can’t really mess this up!
Then just let your kids dip the end of their fly swatters into the soap mixture…
and send them running with the stick or just have them shake it around. Either way, they will make massive amounts of little bubbles everywhere!
Casey was so excited — he kept saying that he was in a bubble WORLD!
In my book, the best kind of bubbles are those that require NO blowing and are fool-proof for even the little ones!
These two kids had such a great time with the fly swatter bubbles…we will certainly repeat this outdoor summer activity many more times this season!
