To continue our series of fall-themed activities, I set up an easy Candy Corn Counting Game for the boys today. After all, doesn’t every child love to count using sweet treats?
When I saw a similar idea on another website, I knew that it would be a hit in our house. So last night, while I sat in front of the television watching DVR episodes of the classy reality show The Vineyard, I used green and yellow construction paper (plus markers) to create these stalks of corn. And yes, I just admitted that I watch The Vineyard. Anyone else?! Keith’s on board, too!
While my boys know how to count, learning to read and recognize written numbers is an entirely different skill. To keep it simple, I made each child a set of corn from 1 to 5. If you have an older or more advanced audience, just use larger numbers, or mix up the numbers (for instance, make one corn stalk 23 and the other 12).
especially my candy-loving little one!
