Hi, friends!! I’m popping in today to share one of my favorite new finds, which happens to be a great gift idea for yourself, for your mom, or for your best friend. Valentine’s Day, perhaps?!

Camera Bag 4

Whether you are a blogger who snaps photos for a living, a mom who loves to capture action shots of her family, or a grandparent with plenty of adorable little subjects…THIS is for you!

But let me back up for a second, okay?

For Christmas, the main gift that I requested from my family was a big new lens for my camera. BUT, when it arrived, I quickly realized that this fragile and expensive piece of equipment did not have a safe place to “live,” because it didn’t fit in my already-overflowing little camera bag. It was time to upgrade in a major way!

I looked and looked for a camera bag that was both functional and attractive. I didn’t want something big and clunky that was the size of a suitcase, but I did want to make sure that whatever stylish bag I found would also come equipped with the proper padding and compartments to keep all of my photography supplies organized AND safe. Once I stumbled upon the Watermelon Wishes Etsy shop, I knew that my search was over.

I was instantly drawn to the wide variety of fabrics to choose from, the various sizes and shapes of the bags, and…best of all…the owner of the shop herself. As you probably know by now, I love to support small, local vendors and artisans in Virginia. While Andrea’s Etsy shop is available to anyone (anywhere!), she also has a storefront in nearby Middleburg, Virginia, with a curated collection of handmade products that are designed and produced by independent makers in and around the greater Northern Virginia region.

Andrea Chapman is one cool Boss Lady, too! She’s passionate about the Maker Movement and supporting women in business, and she has successfully expanded her own business to include multiple employees, a larger studio, and the Main Street Artisan Collaboration (MSAC) – an extension of Watermelon Wishes.

All of this is to say that behind my fun, bright, and cheerful bag is a great lady with a really great cause. Love that!

If you have a camera of your own (and ESPECIALLY if you like to travel with it!), you should definitely check out the options at Watermelon Wishes. Andrea’s bags are available in three sizes, so you can find something that suits YOUR needs perfectly.

The Mini Camera Bag will hold a point and shoot camera, The Compact Camera Bag will hold a digital camera with a 55mm lens attached, and The Large Camera Bag will hold a digital camera with a 55mm lens attached + one additional lens.

My bag, which you see in the photo below, is The Large Camera Bag.

Every Watermelon Wishes Camera Bag is custom made to order and can be crafted in your choice of designer fabrics. I spent some time on Andrea’s site checking out all of her options and ultimately decided that I loved the patchwork look. I explained the colors that I was looking for, and Andrea created this one-of-a-kind beauty just for me!

The bag comes with padded dividers, as well as a camera strap cover to coordinate and dress up my camera (so fun, right?!…and a convenient way to keep track of the lens cap that I am ALWAYS misplacing)! The outer pockets are also great for holding my iPhone while I’m shooting, or for storing the battery charger.

I obviously love this new bag, as well as the lady and the business behind it. And by the way – she has diaper bags for sale, as well as some other organizational caddies. I promise…you will NOT be disappointed!

  1. Oh I love that bag! I just got myself a JoTotes bag that doesn’t even look like a camera bag and is totally functional for every day. I always felt like I was only taking pictures of food with my nice camera and my family/friends got the phone pics. Now everyone gets quality pics 🙂

    1. I know, right?! If we’re going to be expected to drag around our big cameras, we better have a darn cute way of carrying them! 🙂

  2. That is beyond adorable. My camera bag is the ugly standard one that I got with my camera. So bleh. This is such a statement piece!

  3. Love this bag! This is great for color lovers for sure! When you look at it, you can’t help but smile. I think this is a great addition to many people’s collection, probably mine also in the near future. This is great for anytime of the year, but especially great during those bright colored seasons of spring and summer.

The design allows plenty of room for someone who don’t want a huge bag but needs space.

The material looks soft and pliable, which is great when wanting to let your camera equipment safe. It also looks like it would be easy to wash as well.
