When I spied a box of Trix cereal earlier this week, the brightly-colored bites instantly brought to mind the whimsical Truffula Trees in Dr. Seuss’s book, The Lorax.  After all, we’ve spent the week focused on his stories, so you can tell where my brain is…

Dr. Seuss Lorax Truffula Tree Treats

These are basically just a twist on the classic, ever-popular Rice Krispie Treat, replacing the rice cereal with fruity Trix instead. What child wouldn’t love these? And moms will love them because they are SO easy to prepare.

While these Truffula Tree Treats are obviously an appropriate Dr. Seuss-themed snack, they would also be perfect at just about any child’s gathering. How about a slumber party where the guests wake up to these for breakfast, with a glass of milk and fruit on the side? Now that would be a sweet treat!

Here’s my super-easy recipe, and if you’d prefer some Truffula Trees minus the sugar, check out my previous post where we made Truffula Trees out of pom-poms. Just as fun!

    1. Hi, Chris! No, I don’t think you need to let it cool too much. I like to either wet my hands or spray them with cooking spray so that I can really squeeze them together without them sticking to me as I work. After each one continue to moisten your hands, as necessary, to prevent sticking. Hope that helps! 🙂

    2. I just did them and when they were a tiny bit cooler they stuck a little better. I just went back at the end and reshaped them a little bit so cute and easy!

    1. Hi, Staci! They’re a lot like Rice Krispies treats — which means that they’re much better when prepared just before eating. You can keep them fresh when wrapped tightly on the counter for maybe 1-2 days, but I wouldn’t wait any longer than that. 🙂

Cute recipe! I couldn’t get mine to set AT ALL. I assume operator error. So I took the popsicle sticks out and sent them to school as Truffula Fruits instead. My 3yo helped make them for his class, and loved it. So it was great, just for that alone!

    1. Thanks, Jennifer! I’m glad that your son had fun with the snack — even if they didn’t set perfectly. I’m sure his classmates didn’t mind one bit! 🙂

    1. We’re so glad to hear this! Melted chocolate is a great idea. Thank you for sharing, Kathy!
