Happy Easter, friends! I hope that everyone has been enjoying a beautiful spring weekend!

We’ve had a gorgeous couple of days here in Virginia and we managed to pack it full of holiday fun. Here are a few highlights…

The boys and I started our Easter preparations on Friday, actually. Our errands before lunch included buying some fresh local daffodils and some homemade biscuits at Yoder’s Country Market to add to our holiday table. Casey loves gardening, farming, fruits, veggies, and flowers (just about anything that has to do with nature), so he was the one who actually picked out the blooms and paid the farmer for them!

We made a stop at the Madison Co-Op because we had heard a rumor (TRUE!) that there were baby Easter bunnies and ducklings for sale. It was tempting, but we didn’t come home with a new pet. The boys just had a great time petting and holding the furry little friends. Of course, I left my phone in the car so no photos. 🙁

We grabbed lunch at Taco Bell so that the boys could play on the multi-level indoor playground. It was a rainy morning and they needed some serious exercise! They definitely worked up a sweat (and I didn’t have to cook lunch), so mission accomplished.

We spent the afternoon dyeing Easter eggs on our front porch and decorating sugar cookies. We used Easter-shaped cookie cutters, but the dough spread in the oven so they all came out looking like blobs. Oh well, with the massive amounts of frosting and sprinkles that the kids used, you couldn’t tell the difference anyway. And they tasted good!

Saturday morning I went grocery shopping with my two youngest…always an adventure.

Back home, I cut up the honeydew melon that Casey had picked out at the store,

and we made some individual pizzas for lunch (Gibbs’s request).

Since I knew that we would be out of the house for a lot of the afternoon, I decided to make this recipe for Crock Pot BBQ Chicken Quinoa. I tossed all of the ingredients into the slow cooker before heading out. The meal was a BIG hit with the family. It’s easy, delicious, and all 4 boys cleaned their plates!

I used this barbecue sauce, which I found in the refrigerator. I think that Keith received it as a gift? It was good!

The older two boys and I spent our afternoon at the country club with Margeaux, Ian, and their family for an egg hunt.

Spence stayed home with Keith so that he could nap, and then he later went on a country cruise with Dad while we were gone!

We spent the evening watching NCAA basketball and prepping for the Easter Bunny!

And sure enough, today started bright and early with lots of excitement. New toys in their Easter baskets,

a nice big vanilla latte for me,

and the kids’ 1290834750938475 egg hunt of the season!

They are professionals at this point,

but the Easter Bunny was smart this year and he spread the eggs out over a few acres, which made the hunt last longer, gave the boys some exercise, and ensured that they weren’t fighting over the same egg at once! Success.

Before lunch we got some fresh air and exercise as a family,

and now the kids are resting before my parents, aunt, and uncle arrive for Easter dinner. I’m off to prep these berries and turn them into my Fruit Salad with Honey Lemon Dressing. Also on the menu: ham, biscuits, a green salad, potato salad, and some cupcakes and misshapen sugar cookies for dessert.

Better get hopping! Happy Easter!
