With Father’s Day less than a week away, I thought that I would share an idea for a fun and easy gift for all of those special men in your life. So, if you’re a dad and your name is Keith, please do me a favor: close your browser and stop reading this post. Thank you. A few surprises in life are good!
Over the past few weeks, the boys and I have been shopping for some of Dad’s favorite items and quietly stowing them away in my closet. Our ultimate goal was to create a big box of stuff that Keith loves, which we could gift to him on his special day.
We started with this empty diaper box, since it was the perfect size to hold everything.
I then cut some of the boys’ water color paintings into rectangles to fit the outside of the box. I like the personal touch of having the kids’ artwork on the package; however, wrapping paper would work just fine, too. Another option would be to cover the box in white paper and let your kiddos decorate it.
I wrote a quick note on the paper: “A box of The Best Stuff for The Best Dad!” If you think that’s cheesy, then just write whatever you want.
Then I just glued the paper to the sides of the box. Ta-da! Time to stuff it…
Here’s what went inside our box…of course, these are just a few ideas – tailor the items to suit your dad’s tastes!):
Scratch-off lotto tickets. Keith loves a good gamble, and he only gets these things about once a year: in his Christmas stocking. He really does show great restraint!
A recent photo of the boys. Perfect for any dad’s office.
Plenty of Dad’s favorite snacks…
A 6-pack of one of his favorite local brews.
A new bathing suit – just in time for pool season!
And a new case for his iPad. The one item that Keith specifically requested!
It’s like receiving a Christmas stocking in June. I know our dad will be thrilled!
