In just two minutes you can prepare an all-natural spray that will safely and easily relieve the tender soreness and pain that often accompanies a mild sunburn after a day in the great outdoors!

After Sun Skin Soother

We all do our best to slather ourselves and our children with high levels of SPF protection any time that we will be exposed to the sun, right?! But guess what: accidents happen, we may forget the lotion, or we might not apply it evenly…and after just a short amount of time under the sun’s harsh rays our sensitive skin may be left feeling tender, sore, or even {gasp!} burned. We’ve all been there, right?

This summer you can be prepared to quickly and easily ease the pain with my super-simple 2-Ingredient After-Sun Skin Soother. Even if you don’t have a full-on sunburn, you will love how this gentle formula makes your skin feel and smell. Plus, it doesn’t get any easier than this!

Did you know that lavender essential oil is not only effective for helping us relax (thanks to the soothing and refreshing sweet, floral aroma), but it’s also a great topical treatment for skin irritation?

  1. Oooo…YES, PLEASE!! This is a great idea Blair! I feel like I’m always burning to a crisp, even with sunscreen, here in Phoenix in the summer, and I’m always on the hunt for something to calm those sunburns down. Can’t get much easier than this, and it smells great too! 🙂 Pinned!

I have this recipe but have you thought about using coconut oil with it instead of water?? I have some lavender in a roller bottle with fractionated coconut oil and when my kids end up with a little too much sun (usually on their cheeks) they use it and rub it on before bed and usually by morning its cleared up and the FCO helps had some moisture back into their skin that the sun has pulled out.

    1. Oh, great idea, Sheena! No, I haven’t tried the coconut oil, but I bet it’s great. Coconut oil is the cure for everything, right?! 🙂

who knew lavender oil was great on burnt skin!? this is perfect for us down here in florida, especially in the summer time. the sun gets crazy hot and even when you are careful about sun exposure, it creeps up on you!

  4. I have been changing out much of our cleaning products for DIY alternatives (using a lot of vinegar and baking soda). I’m just now starting to look into ideas for changing out all the little ointments and sprays we use (especially during the summer). Thanks for sharing this one. Looks pretty simple to put together- I’ll definitely be trying it out!

    1. Hey, Erin! I’m so glad that you might try this! Natural is best, and it doesn’t get much easier than this!
